The Independent Baptist Church was a splinter group from the African Baptist Assembly of Malawi, Inc.
formed in 1971. There are also American Baptist groups calling themselves "Independent" such as the Baptist Bible Fellowship, the World Baptist Fellowship, the Liberty Baptist Fellowship and Independent Baptist Bible Fellowship.
