on an individual’s work or need of human power. For example, if a couple is getting married villagers participate in the overall organization of the ceremony including but not limited to preparation of the celebration venue, food, building and settlement of the new house for the newly weds etc. This tradition often finds its way into modern world where in big cities people would help each other for free in undertaking tasks, which in western world would be unthinkable without proper pay. Imece is a volunteer activity, yet has its unwritten rules. Especially, if members of the community are co-located, reciprocity is expected.Tasks are often distributed according to expertise and has no central authority to govern activities.
