History
After eight years in the music and entertainment industry, Illusive Group has established itself as a market leader when it comes to cutting edge music. Founded in 2002 by Matt Gudinski & Adam Jankie, Illusive has existed as one of Australia’s first truly 360 degree music businesses, having operations within all areas of the music industry - including a record label, touring company, a boutique booking agency and management business alongside other ventures.Record Label / Licensing
Illusive Sounds is a boutique record label and marketing company which discovers and nurtures local talent. We have launched and grown the careers of several successful contemporary acts in Australia, as well as paving the way and breaking down barriers at Australian radio and within the broader media community for contemporary music. Illusive Sounds also licenses international product for release in Australia and New Zealand. Illusive is distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Universal Music.Touring Division
Illusive’s touring arm is renowned as one of the top promoters of contemporary music in Australia and NZ. Responsible for a large percentage of urban and dance music tours landing on our shores over the last 7 years, Illusive deals with various scale tours for international artists, from club shows through to full arenas. Past tours include international artists such as The Roots, Lupe Fiasco, Bruno Mars, Cypress Hill, Clipse, Talib Kweli and 50 Cent through to DJs like Spinderella, Baio (Vampire Weekend), Gorillaz DJs, Miike Snow DJs, Cash Money, Q-Bert and many more; alongside the countless one-off shows Illusive have promoted in individual Australian cities which include names like Ladyhawke, LMFAO, Shwayze, Mark Farina and Derrick Carter. We are known as the go-to crew in Australia for after-show events from acts as diverse as Usher and Sleigh Bells. In late 2010, Illusive were behind the country’s biggest ever under-18s festival, Another World, which will now become an annual event.Artist Voice
Illusive’s Director, Matt Gudinski, partnered with Australia’s premier booking agent, Brett Murrihy, to create the Artist Voice agency in 2010. The booking roster is a who’s who of contemporary Australian and New Zealand talent, including the likes of Empire of the Sun, The Temper Trap, Gypsy & the Cat, Howling Bells, The Naked & Famous, Bliss N Eso and Little Red to name just a few. Artist Voice is currently in the process of setting up an international representation department to promote foreign artists within Australia and New Zealand to provide a local advantage.Merchandise
Illusive represent and handle the day to day operation and activity of merchandise for numerous local artists along with international touring artists. Thanks to a partnership with the country’s largest tour merchandise manufacturer Illusive’s rates are highly competitive. Headed by a young, street-savvy design team, Illusive’s merchandise division has recently branched out into online fulfilment and has a system in place to handle all elements of online sales that management and artists now require.Illusive Venues
An integral piece of the Illusive business is the nightclub promotion and venue arm. We currently operate one of Melbourne’s most successful venues, boutique St. Kilda nightspot Pretty Please, which operate some of the city’s most popular weekly club nights. Alongside Illusive’s club division also sets up and coordinates many nationwide club tours for international DJs and club artists. ACCLAIM is Australia’s only dedicated street lifestyle and culture magazine along with its highly celebrated online component, acclaimmag.com. The niche magazine is distributed in several countries around the world and has a dedicated team of editorial and sales staff.
