Illini Bluffs has acquired world-wide attention as of late. Senior, Tyler Knowles, was killed in a car crash and the person riding with him, another student, was sentenced to prison the following year. Some time after the teachers went on strike, attracting world-wide attention due to the subject of random drug-testing, which has never been attempted in an Illinois school before. The schoolboard, which was attempting to force the testing into the contract just ten days before the new school year, cited Tyler Knowles' death as a cause of the changes(he'd used drugs). The most recent tragedy to occur at Illini Bluffs happened more recently, 9/27/2011. One senior again lost his life. Austin Nau, a prominent student and role model was in a life shattering car crashing while commuting from Illinois Central College to Illini Bluffs High School. Rest In Peace Austin....
