 radio presenter and the Managing Editor of Mansfield 103.2. His career began back in 2000 when he began making tea for the breakfast team and working on a voluntary basis helping around the station. After 10 years at the station, Watkins now hosts the breakfast show, "Watko In The Morning" between 6-10am weekdays.

 and attended Sherwood Hall School and Sixth Form College.

Early Radio career

After a run of voluntary work at Mansfield 103.2 and a brief spell on the overnight show called Late Night Run, in 2001 Watkins became the station's Mid-Morning Presenter.
After a year on the mid-morning slot, he moved to the Afternoon Show, a position which he held for 4 years, eventually moving on to the news team.
6 months later, Watkins presented another spell on the Drivetime show, lasting 6 months before he took a break.

, a humorous radio programme which ran for three hours, between 7pm and 10pm, on Fridays.
The Show featured his producers, Christoff, Cam and Ben. Podcasts of the show were made available by MickYNWA. The show relied on callers and crazy topics. Some of the regulars included the Iman, Crazy Dave, Helen in Sutton, Sue Morgan, Russell from Warsop, David In Mansfield, Mad Pixie, Gary from Kirkby and Phil Mitchell. In one episode Phil Mitchell was almost enticed to buy a fridge by an unknown caller. The show was heavily influenced by radio and TV presenter Iain Lee

 and on the 24th July 2009 he made a guest appearance live in the studio.

The programme started on the 22nd February 2008 and ran for 5 series until the 11th September 2009.

Watko In The Morning

In August 2010 Ian was asked to present the breakfast show after his 10 year employment at Mansfield 103.2. Also on the breakfast show are Tiny Rob the producer, Lyssa Allison who reads the news/weather and Dave Rhodes who provides regular locally focused sports reports.

Christmas Tradition

Watkins is also known for presenting on Christmas Day on Mansfield 103.2 in the Midmorning slot, a tradition that, as of 2010, he has upheld for the last ten years.
