, playing two seasons with the second division club. In 1979, he led the league in scoring, scored the only goal in the Gold's 1-0 victory over the Columbus Magic
in the championship game and was a first team all star. At the end of the 1980 season, the Gold traded Filby to the Pennsylvania Stoners
. In 1981, he returned to the NASL with the California Surf
. After retiring from playing, he remained in norther California and continued to play in the amateur Central California Soccer League.
