INTERACTIVE UNIX System V/386 is a port
of the UNIX System V
operating system
for Intel x86 processors.
The system was first released by INTERACTIVE Systems Corporation
(ISC) as 386/ix in 1985. At that time it was based on System V.3.0. Later versions were based on System V.3.2. Sun Microsystems
acquired ISC in 1992 from its parent Eastman Kodak
; the last version was "System V/386 Release 3.2 Version 4.1.1" released in July 1998. Official support ended in July 2006, 5 years after Sun withdrew the product from sale.
Until version ISA 3.0.1, INTERACTIVE UNIX supported only 16 MB
of RAM.
In the next versions, it supported 256MB RAM and PCI
bus.
EISA versions always support 256MB RAM.
