The IEEE Broadcast Technology Society (IEEE BTS) is a long-established professional society of the IEEE.

History

The IRE Audio Professional Group was formed on June 2, 1948, and the Broadcast Engineers Group was later approved on July 7, 1948. The group changed their name to the IRE Professional Group on Broadcast Transmission Systems in August of 1949, which later became the IRE Professional Group on Broadcasting. The Professional Group on Broadcasting was structured in a fashion very similar to the current structure of the Broadcast Technology Society, with an Administrative Committee and Chapters in many major cities.
