1.1L

The 1.1L U Diesel engine is a 3-cylinder version of the 1.5L U series unit and is made with cast iron block and aluminum cylinder head with chain driven DOHC with 4 valves per cylinder, Bosch common rail direct injection (CRDi), variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) and intake air swirl control. Bore and Stroke are 75 mm x 84.5 mm. It creates an impressive 74 HP (55Kw) and 113 ft-lb (153 NM) of torque. It is one of Hyundai's most efficient engines using only 4.2L/100 km (56 MPG), and emits a minuscule 112 g/km of CO2. The engine also incorporates a 1½ engine order balance shaft mounted under the crankshaft driven by helical gears to manage engine vibration. It is currently fitted to the Kia Picanto and Hyundai i10 models.

1.4L

The 1.4L U Diesel engine utilizes four cylinders and is made with cast iron block and aluminum cylinder head with chain driven DOHC with 4 valves per cylinder, Bosch common rail direct injection (CRDi), variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) and intake air swirl control. It is a reduced stroke version of the 1.5L U series with Bore and Stroke at 75 mm x 79 mm. It produces 75PS and 220Nm torque in base Hyundai i20 models and 90PS and 220Nm higher spec Hyundai i20 models.

1.5L

The 1.5L U Diesel engine utilizes four cylinders and is made with cast iron block and aluminum cylinder head with chain driven DOHC with 4 valves per cylinder, Bosch common rail direct injection (CRDi), variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) and intake air swirl control. Bore and Stroke are 75 mm x 84.5 mm. It produces 90PS and 215Nm torque in the Hyundai Getz and 110PS and 235Nm torque in the Kia Rio and higher spec Hyundai Getz models. Introduced in 2005 this engine replaced the VM Motori sourced 1.5L 3-cylinder common rail Diesel sold in the Hyundai Getz and Accent models and which was notably more unrefined.

1.6 L

The 1.6-litre U Diesel engine (known as D4FB) from the Žilina (Slovakia) Kia factory is a bored-out version of the 1.5-litre U series engine (77.2 mm versus 75 mm) and is used in the KIA Cerato 1.6CRDi, KIA Cee'd 1.6CRDi, Kia Soul and Hyundai i30 models. It develops 90 PS or 115 PS and 235 Nm or 255 Nm torque, dependent on the vehicle application and was the "best in class" diesel engine in the world till now and present time. In 2009 it refined to the 1.6 U2 version and to 128 PS with 265 Nm.
