when it reached #20 on the Billboard Hot 100
. The original plan was for them to record "A Teenager in Love
," however, that song went to Dion and The Belmonts
instead. "Hushabye" was their consolation prize.
It was later covered by the American

. It was released on their July 1964 album All Summer Long
and it featured Brian Wilson
and Mike Love
on lead vocals. In the stereo version, Brian's vocals are in one channel and the rest of the group in the other. In 1993, two new versions of the song appeared on the Beach Boys' box set. One was a live version and the other was a split track with vocals in one channel and instruments in the other.
