He resumed his former business pursuits.
He served as member of the Wisconsin Senate, 1889.
He moved to Silver City

in 1894 and engaged in silver mining.
He moved to Phoenix, Arizona
, and served as surveyor general of Arizona Territory
for two years.
He moved to Denver, Colorado
