Hucknall has been in continuous use as an airfield since 1916. Formerly RAF Hucknall, it featured in the film The One That Got Away. Hucknall Aerodrome has a CAA
Ordinary Licence (Number P507) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction as authorised by the licensee (Rolls-Royce plc
). The aerodrome is not licensed for night use and is not available for public transport passenger flights required to use a licensed aerodrome. It is closed to visiting aircraft Monday-Friday and whenever engine testing is in operation by Rolls-Royce.
Rolls Royce testing has since left Hucknall in 2008 and has moved to other testing sites across the country.
