Hopwood Hall College is a further education

A series of capital projects have been undertaken and completed since incorporation, the first of which was Sports Arena @hopwood which was opened on 25 September 2002 by Ivan Lewis, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Learning and Skills and Paul Scholes of Manchester United Football Club. The Henry West Building at the Middleton campus was officially opened on 26 May 2006 by college governor Henry West. On 6 April 2006, Lord Tom Pendry, President of The Football Foundation opened the Football Pavilion and 3G Astroturf football pitch at the Middleton campus.
Since its opening, Hopwood Hall College has offered a provision of A Level courses to sixth form
students from the local area. However, with the new Rochdale Sixth Form College
opening in September 2010, Hopwood Hall will largely discontinue its provision of A Levels to new students, concentrating instead on offering vocational further education for school leavers, as well as courses for adult learners. The new campus of Rochdale Sixth Form College has been built next to the Rochdale campus of Hopwood Hall, and a forms a new further education quarter in the town.
The latest capital project due to take place at Hopwood Hall College will be the construction of purpose built engineering and construction facilities at the Middleton campus which will see that part of the college's curriculum provision moved from the Rochdale campus. This £7m scheme is due to commence in September 2010 and be completed in July 2011.

Hopwood Hall College was incorporated in 1992 and officially opened by HRH Queen Elizabeth II on 17 July 1992. The College is split over two campuses in Rochdale and Middleton. The Rochdale campus was formerly home to Rochdale College of Further Education, Rochdale College of Art and Rochdale Technology College. All of which merged when the College was incorporated.
