Hong Lim Park, being the first public garden created by the Hokkien businessman, Cheng Hong Lim in 1885, is 0.94 hectare.

The park was the venue for many election rallies and political speeches during the 1950s and 1960s. It was selected by the Government as the venue for the Speakers' Corner
