History
- April 14, 1926: Station begins operation as Hon-Shiogama Station. (本塩釜駅)
- May 1, 1944: Station is nationalized and changes its kanji to the traditional form of Shiogama, although the name Hon-Shiogama Station remains. (本塩竈駅)
- May 25, 1963: Station changes kanji back to original. (本塩釜駅)
