Homer Glen's most recent population estimate is 24, 220 according to the recent 2010 census. This most current census also concludes that Homer Glen residents are 95.5% white, 4.91% Hispanic, 1.75% asian, and 0.57% black. It is a residential and commercial suburb of Chicago in rapidly growing Will County. The village is served by three post offices and has its own zip code for most of the village: Lemont, Lockport, and Orland Park. Police services are supplied by the Will County Sheriff's Police Department. Fire services are provided by Northwest Homer Fire Protection District (north of 147th st), Homer Township Fire Protection District, and Mokena Fire Protection District to the southeast of the village. The Homer Highway dept. covers most of the area roads, with the Will County Highway department covering at least 5 roadways, and IDOT covering 195th Street.

Government

The current village president of Homer Glen is Jim Daley. There are six trustees: George Yukich, Marcia De Vivo, Mike Costa, Mary Niemiec, Margaret Sabo and Ted Kagianas. The village clerk is Gale Skrobuton.

Recreation

Homer Glen has many parks and athletic clubs (including the Homer Athletic Club, Homer Stallions football and lacrosse, Homer Heat baseball, Lockport Homer Swim Club, and Homer Hawks soccer) providing recreation to the town. The Village recently finished construction of the Homer Glen Heroes Trail in the Fall of 2011. This is the first trail system to be constructed in Homer Glen. The trail is dedicated to local heroes and individuals that have made a positive impact on the community. The first event to take place on the new Heroes Trail was the Mike Hike 5k, which was in honor of local resident PFC Michael C. Olivieri who lost his life while serving in Iraq in June of 2011.

Religion

Homer Glen is the location of Annunciation of the Mother of God Byzantine Catholic Church. This church has been awarded for its "green" initiatives, specifically its 10 acres (40,468.6 m²) of landscaping that focuses on native plant life and water retention / management. Annunciation is notably one of the few new parishes of the Byzantine Catholic Metropolitan Church of Pittsburgh
