Critical reception

Jim Malec of The 9513, a country music review site, gave Shelton's version a thumbs-up rating. He said that although he did not think that the song had a country music sound, and although he did not consider Shelton as strong of a vocalist as Bublé, he described Shelton's interpretation as "gut-wrenching in its longing" and "starkly real".
