History

Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School opened in 2003 for students from Grades 9 to 11. It was constructed on a property adjacent to Good Shepherd Catholic Elementary School, which is one of its three feeder schools. During its second year of operation Holy Trinity had students from Grades 9 to 12 and celebrated the graduation of its first group of Grade 12 students. In June 2007, the first group of Grade 9 students to have started at HT graduated, thus completing the first generation of Holy Trinity students. In September 2007, the largest group of Grade 9 students ever to enter Holy Trinity began their studies toward completion of their Ontario Secondary School Diplomas (OSSD). These students will graduate in June 2011.

room. The program currently supports 11 students.

Athletic Programs

Holy Trinity is known for its strong athletic performance, and has won several championships since opening in sports such as football, basketball, soccer, hockey, and have had students earn medals in wrestling. The Senior Girls' Basketball team has made two consecutive appearances in the provincial championships (2005, 2006). Both Senior Boys' (2005, 2009) and Senior Girls' (2007) Soccer teams have also made appearances in the provincial championships. The school is currently home to the 2007 'AA' LOSSA Junior Girls', Senior Girls' and Junior Boys' Soccer champions.

Football

Both the Junior and Senior Football teams captured first place in the LOSSA Tier I Hiron Division in 2008, both carrying a 5-1 record, though the Seniors reached this milestone due to a technical win against Pickering High School, who had fielded an ineligible player in the season opener. Both teams also advanced all the way to the Championship game, and both failed in their attempt to capture the first LOSSA Football title for the school. The Juniors, however, did earn a berth into the Ontario Regional Junior Football Championship playdowns, traveling to Blessed Trinity Catholic Secondary School in Grimsby four days after losing in the LOSSA Championship. The team also went down to defeat in this game, ending the longest and most successful Junior Football season in school history. In 2009 the Senior football went through an undefeated season going 6-0, only to lose a heartbreaker to Wilson 20-15 in the semi-finals. Then in 2010, the Holy Trinity Titans Senior football team captured their first LOSSA title by defeating Donald A. Wilson a score of 33-32. The 2010 team led by Earl Anderson and company took that success even further by capturing the school's first "Metro Bowl" championship by dominating the King City Lions 28-3 at the Roger's Center in Toronto.

Other Extra Curricular Programs

Students participate in a variety of non-athletic programs as well, including dramatic, musical, academic, and social justice clubs. The Holy Trinity drama department has grown year by year and a performance is put on every year. Each year the stature of these performances (either musicals or straight plays) has grown substantially. Holy Trinity also boasts a very successful Student Cabinet, elected each spring, that has donated over $100 000CDN to the greater community since its inception just over four years ago. Notably, the HT Student Cabinet led a successful Terry Fox Foundation fundraising campaign in September 2010, setting a school fundraising record of over $30 000CDN. Holy Trinity also has a student-teacher run program named Trinity Earth that raises awareness of environmental issues in the school community and beyond.
