Hofmann island is the site of a snow runway.

This island has been named after Russian mineralogist and explorer of the Urals Professor E.K. Hofmann (1801-1871).

Northeast of Hofmann Island runs a 45 km broad channel known as Proliv Severo Vostochnyy, beyond which lies Belaya Zemlya
