The Hispanic Democratic Organization (HDO) was a political action committee
(PAC) officially started in 1993, to aid political power for Mayor Daley. HDO served as the lone Hispanic organization that was able to actually have an impact on the Latino political landscape of Chicago, and throughout the State of Illinois. HDO served as an organization that empowered candidates who addressed the needs of Hispanic communities the best. Because of their success, and rise to power, many unsuccessful candidates for office became critics of HDO and sought to disband the organization, sacrificing the HDO's true intention of the need for proper representation in Hispanic communities, for their own political gain.
