. In the 1997–98 he competed less. He did made his World Cup debut in December, but finished 65th. In the 1998–99 he started off with good results in the so-called European Cup, then participated in four races in Japan in February. With two thirtieth places in Inawashiro and two 29th places in Madarao he collected his first and only World Cup points.
