ese critic, poet and social scientist was born in 1939. He studied in Cotton College, Delhi University. After completion of his masters degree, he went to Cambridge for Doctorate research, and on the topic 'Tradition and Paradise lost' he achieved his doctorate degree. After coming back from Cambridge he became a teacher in the Department of English in Gauwahti University. Dr. Gohain's contribution as a critic to Assamese literature is very important. He writes not only in Assamese, but also his writing in English language is praiseworthy. Some of the books written by Dr. Gohain are 'Sahitya Aru Chetana', 'Kalbhramar', 'Asomiya jatiya jibanat Mahapurushiya paramapara' etc.
