The girls basketball and both golf teams have been powerhouses in the War Eagle Conference in recent history, with the girls basketball team making state playoff appearances in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2009, advancing to the title game in 2002 and losing to Rock Valley. The boys and girls golf teams both made state appearances in 2006 & 2007, with the boys winning the tournament in 2006. The football team has also seen recent success under co-head coaches Bruce Held and Steve Diediker. Since moving to the toss offense in 2001, Hinton has reached the state playoffs 4 times in the decade losing in the first round each time. The Blackhawks have been to the state playoffs 3 years in a row (2007, 2008, 2009).
