Hine emotionally welcomed him and revealed she was off the drugs for 10 years and that she was now a social worker. Hine was introduced to Tracey who suspected she was still doing Heroin which was proven false. Hine felt bad for ditching Scotty as a child and decided to help with his wedding and make it perfect. However Hine kept doing things differently to how Tracey had wanted and a grudge was developed between the two. Scotty got Hine a job as a social worker at the hospital
which was controversial when she let an illegal immigrant escape. Hine soon got sick of Tracey and told Scotty she did not like her. Hine later helped locate Scotty when he went crazy.
Hine is seen comforting Tracey in 2011 and is seen leading the search group for Scotty. When Scotty is located, Hine is shocked to hear he has a tumour. She is later disgusted when Scotty breaks it off with Tracey and she tells Scotty this and takes the full blame for ruining his life. Hine calls Scotty a coward for dumping Tracey which results in Scotty trying to ring Rebecca to inform her of Hine's whereabouts. Hine angrily grabs the phone back and admits that she is a coward too and she will contact Rebecca in time. Hine agrees with Scotty that she will go visit Rebecca if Scotty gets back together with Tracey. Hine later attends the twos marriage and reveals she is going to go spend some time with Rebecca and her grandchildren.
