The title of the song is a reference to the sign they saw as they entered Groom

, stating "Amarillo-42". The sign is still visible on the Eastern side of Groom.

Years later, Cody and the band returned to Keith's Auto, and paid restitution for the song by giving Mr. Barkley band merchandise.

and went over a 60 foot cliff. Canada says about the accident, "It kinda f***ed us up for a while - emotionally, religiously, and physically..." The wrecked Jeep Bronco from the accident is pictured on the album cover.
