It crosses the Kansas River at the eastern part of the bridge, and has thru-truss spans over the Kansas River.
The rest of the bridge is a deck truss, and is about one mile long, and goes a north to southeast in direction.

The thru-truss that cross the Kansas River have lift jacks to lift it during floods.
