Henry Wyndham Phillips was a British portrait painter.
His father was the portraitist Thomas Phillips
. Henry also produced and exhibited a small number of paintings of subjects from the Bible. For thirteen years he served as Secretary of the Artists’ General Benevolent Institution and he and Frederic Leighton
were the founding commanders of the Artists Rifles on its establishment in 1860.
Phillips painted portraits of Charles Kean for the Garrick Club and Robert Stephenson for the Institution of Civil Engineers, and exhibited 89 pictures in London between 1838-68.
He died at Hollow Combe, Sydenham, on 8 December 1868 and was buried at West Norwood Cemetery
