Biography

Askew was born in 1775 the third son of John Askew of Pallinsburn in Northumberland

His first mission was to Holland and Flanders with the "1st foot". In 1793, Askew was part of the expedition to Walcheren in Spain, Portugal and the south of France.

He was wounded at Quatre Bras and received the Waterloo medal. He became a Lieutenant General in 1837.

His family seat was Pallinsburn House
