Waitakere station has a small station building and a old steam train at the entrance. The platform has been modernized though the old station house remains with the red wooden seats.

History

Every year during the Auckland Farmers Santa Parade, special trains run out to Helensville Station.

In June 2007 it was announced that suburban rail services were to be extended to Helensville in 2008. Services to the town resumed on 14 July 2008 after an absence of 28 years.

Services

Mon-Fri trial services ran to Helensville for a year from the 14 July 2008.

This was the first train here since the 1980s.

Helensville services were discontinued after December 24, 2009.
