Encyclopedia
Heera Group UK was a popular bhangra music group that originated in the early 1980s. They scored several Punjabi hit songs through much of the decade. Arguably, Heera Group introduced Bhangra as we hear it today.

History

Heera Group was founded in 1979 by lead singer Bhupinder Bhindi, Satwant Taak, Balbir Gill and Debbi. They did an album with Punjabi singer Narinder Biba, in which Bhindi Laltonwala sang a duet. J. Kumar joined the group which was then known as Quallander Group, changing its name to Heera Group.

Career

With Charnjit Ahuja's music they gave album 'Bhabi Te Nanaan Nachdi'(1983). Song 'Pind De Mundiya Te' became a popular number soon after 'Jaghwala Mela' (1985) was released and became a very big hit. Unfortunately Bhindi ended his career due to health problems. Heera group gave 'Diamonds From Heera' and continued their success.
