History

Many of the area's residents are descendants of Norwegian immigrants who settled the area during the period from the mid-19th Century through the very early 20th Century. Kandiyohi County also has a very large Norwegian heritage influence. Hawick was originally called "Havig", according to Martin Ulvestad
