. Although many local residents refer to it as a village, it expanded greatly during the 20th century and now merges with Chesterfield itself.

Churches

The Methodist Church was founded in a cottage on Chapel Lane in 1831 and moved to its present site (on Hampton Street) in 1901.

St. Paul's Church is an Anglican church, and was built in 1850 in the south of Hasland. Before this church was built, most people were baptised, married and buried at St. Mary's and All Saints' Church (also an Anglican church) in Chesterfield town centre.

. Hasland caters for pupils aged 4-16, meaning that there is no sixth form in Hasland. This forces pupils wishing to go into further education to go elsewhere.

Hasland Infant School is situated on Eyre Street East and opened in 1904. The Infant School has recently added an extra block of buildings, and is now bigger, with a newer nursery part of the school. Hasland Junior School is situated on The Green, and Hasland Hall Community School (the secondary school) is on Broomfield Avenue.

 was set on two sides of a busy road, but the building of a whole new school is now complete. The new site is now located on the same side of the road as Hasland Hall Community School. This means that all of the school is situated on the same side of the road.

is situated on Broomfield Avenue. It currently caters for around 880 students. The building of 5 new classrooms has recently been completed. These opened in September 2006, and are currently the languages block for the school.

Scouts and Guides

Hasland has a thriving Scout group consisting of a Beaver Colony, Cub Pack and Scout Troop, there are also 2 Rainbow Units, 3 Brownie Packs and 2 Guide Groups. They meet weekly either in the local Methodist Church or the Youth Centre. The Scouts, Cubs and Guides participate in the Annual Remeberance Service. This Year (2010), the Scout Group decided to host their own Summer Fayre, raising just under £1000 for the group.
