, the CDP has a total area of 8.9 km² (3.4 mi²). 6.8 km² (2.6 mi²) of it is land and 2.1 km² (0.8 mi²) of it (23.39%) is water.

There were 1,000 households out of which 10.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.4% were married couples
living together, 6.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 51.4% were non-families. 46.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 29.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.79 and the average family size was 2.49.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 11.3% under the age of 18, 3.6% from 18 to 24, 18.5% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 41.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 58 years. For every 100 females there were 74.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 71.9 males.
