She joined the BBC
in the 1974 as a studio manager, before working on the Radio 4
programme Today in Parliament (a recording of Cass presenting The World Tonight
in 1978 can be heard on the track "28/8/78" by the pop group Scritti Politti
on their debut EP "Skank Bloc Bologna").
In 1996, she re-joined Radio 4, after some years away from the network, and since 1998 has been working mainly as a newsreader
including The News Quiz
. In 2003, with Chris Aldridge, she was promoted to the post of senior announcers, after Peter Donaldson
stepped down.
