On March 24, 2011, a suicide bomber blew himself up just outside a police station killing 5 people immediately and injuring another 25. The target appears to have been the police station itself. However, fool-proof security outside the police station made it difficult for the attacker to enter the compound and encouraged him to blow himself up while approaching the gate. Had the security personnel not demonstrated such bravery, the damage could have been much higher.
