Hamish McLachlan

Hamish Angus McLachlan (born 28 August 1975) is an Australian sports broadcaster with the Seven Network
and Austereo. McLachlan hosts AFL Game Day
on Sunday mornings, and calls AFL matches for the Seven Network and Triple M
on Saturdays and Sundays respectively. McLachlan is also an anchor of the Australian Open
tennis tournament for the Seven Network.
. McLachlan played sport—particularly tennis—at a high level before having to undergo seven knee operations from a football accident in 1989 that ended his ambitions to play professional tennis.
Following secondary schooling in Adelaide at St Peter's College and Adelaide University (Bachelor of Commerce), McLachlan was determined to work in the sports and entertainment industry. He felt if he couldn't compete at the highest level, he would like to work and be inspired by those who could. Hamish got that opportunity when he commenced working with Elite Sports Properties (ESP), one of Australia's leading sports management groups, in 1998.
Whilst working for ESP, McLachlan became General Manager of the Events and Entertainment Division, and worked across the world's leading sporting events including the Sydney Olympics, Salt Lake Olympics, World Cup Soccer in Japan and the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
McLachlan became a Director of Elite Sports Properties in 2002 and held that role until 2007.
In 2004 he was a director of the AFL Hall of Fame and Sensation operation that closed only two months after opening.
Following the football season, Channel 7 integrated McLachlan into additional broadcasts including the Melbourne Cup Carnival and the Australian Open. McLachlan hosted the Australian Open Host Feed for Channel 7 in 2008 and called for the Host Feed in 2009, and is now a Host of the domestic Australian Open coverage.
AFL Game Day added to its Sunday format with 3 additions of AFL Game Day: Prime Time in September 2010 on Thursday nights at 7.30pm during the finals series. Brownlow medallist Ben Cousins was a panel member of the prime time series.
In 2012, McLachlan will call Saturday afternoon matches for Channel 7 with Perth based Basil Zempilas as co-caller. Michael Malthouse, Tom Harley and Brett Kirk will form the Saturday afternoon team.
McLachlan has hosted the "Saturday Night Preview" and called Saturday nights and hosted the 2 hour pre game show on Sundays called "The Sunday Rub" and commented Sunday games for Triple M since 2009.
Hamish also calls Friday and Saturday afternoons for Triple M when North Melbourne plays in replacement of North Melbourne's President, James Brayshaw.
McLachlan also hosted "Rocking Horses", Triple M's award winning Spring Racing Coverage in Melbourne in 2008 and 2009.
Outside of AFL Game Day, Channel 7 have had McLachlan involved in projects including hosting Such is Life: The Troubled Times of Ben Cousins - The Panel, The Brownlow Medal - Red Carpet Special, The AFL ANZAC Day Special, Game Day - Live Grand Final Special and The 150th Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Outside of the weekly AFL calls on Triple M, McLachlan has been involved in hosting The Sure Thing, Rocking Horses - A Spring Carnival Special and The Premiership Panel - an AFL Special.
Hamish also does a significant amount of work hosting events for charities in Australia such as the Starlight Children's Foundation, Mazda Foundation, Sony Foundation, Cool Australia, Heart Kids and The Million Dollar Lunch for the Koala Foundation.
McLachlan hosts up to 30 events a year and is known for rarely using notes or scripts.

Following 9 years with Elite Sports Properties, and 3 summers working in the United Kingdom, McLachlan was noticed by Channel 7 in late 2007 and was asked to audition for the hosting role for a new program called AFL Game Day. Following auditions, McLachlan was chosen to host the new AFL panel show. It commenced at the start of the AFL season in 2008 and is now in its 4th season and over 100 shows have been recorded. AFL Game Day has become a regular part of the Seven Networks AFL coverage.Following the football season, Channel 7 integrated McLachlan into additional broadcasts including the Melbourne Cup Carnival and the Australian Open.
