Hagerstown Community College is well-known regionally for its Technical Innovation Center. Due to Hagerstown's proximity to Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland coupled with relatively lower costs and an ability to provide a high quality workforce, the area attracts technology oriented firms in aerospace, bio-sciences, information technology, and telecommunications. HCC provides business incubation services for start-up and early stage technology oriented firms. The College's Technical Innovation Center provides facilities—including BSL2 laboratories for life science firms, grants and other business development assistance for technology based entrepreneurs.
