Haflong is a town and headquarters of Dima Hasao District [Formerly Known as North Cachar Hills] district
in India
in the state of Assam
.
It is adoringly called the 'Switzerland of the East'. Haflong is a quaint hill station breath takingly beautiful,garlanded by the hills and an unending saga of gently flowing streams and waterfalls. The hills are hidden by rolling mists and clouds float within your fingertips.
In the Heart of the Town is Haflong Lake, A view of Haflong Lake in the evening makes the soul levitate,
Haflong is indeed one of the places Worth a visit.

The population of the Town comprises various tribes & races who maintain their own dialect, culture, customs & usages. Apart from various tribes, non-tribals also account for a sizable amount of the population. They are mostly government employees, traders living in urban & semi-urban area. The small and serene Villages shelter the lovely people – warm and fascinating – and as colourful as the land itself. Hmar, Dimasa,Kuki, Hrangkhol, Biate and Mizo etc. are some of the tribes residing in the hill station.
: Located at the heart of Haflong town is the Muolhoi,
a village of the Hmar people, the single largest tribe of the town. This village even though being at the centre of the town is noteworthy and is looked upon as the cultural treasure trove of the Hmar.
Jatinga
: World wide famous for bird mystery (Birds Harakiri). The migratory birds come during the months August to November & it becomes the ornithologist's attraction. From the elevated watch tower one can see them yielding to their death wish & their little plumage dropping down.
A Rock concert accordingly known as Jatinga Rock Fest is held thrice every year in aid of Jatinga
Umrangso
: 112 km from Haflong & 224 km from Guwahati. The huge Hydel plant has come up under North East electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) with dams in the Kopili river.
Near Umrangso, there is a Hot spring( GARAMPANI),the water of which is believed to have medicinal value.
Panimoor: Approximately 120 km away from Haflong, and 8–10 km from Haflong Tiniali,The Kopili River turns into a thrilling waterfall, rolling over the rocks of Panimoor.
Langting:The nearest major railway station to Langting is Haflong (HFG) which is at a distance of 65.00 kilometres. The nearest airport is at Guwahati which is at a distance of 168 kilometres.Langting is one of the the of the Dima Hasao District among the other towns in the district.The town is populated with Dimasa majority and other ethnic tribes like khelma,Reang very thinly populated.It is one of the way to reach Maibang,Haflong,Umrangso etc. Haflong to Langting 93.30Km by Road.Langting-Mupa Reserved Forest has 497.55 Sq. Km
