Gunderson High School is a high school
situated in the Blossom Valley of San Jose, California
which first opened in the fall of 1976. As of August 2010, the school principal is Mr. Dominic Bejarano, and the average annual enrollment is about 1100 students. The school colors are Rust Gold and Brown and their team name is the Gunderson Grizzlies.
The school is unique in that it is one of few high school
s to offer a 1-to-1 laptop program, and the only school to offer the program (a $6 million project) within the San Jose Unified School District
. At the beginning of the year, all students are assigned an Apple MacBook
laptop computer along with books and other basic school materials. Yet due to budget cuts the program has been limited to junior and senior students. A 1-to-1 iPad
program is being introduced in the 2012-2013 school year, allowing all students iPad 2

, local US war veterans, gay rights advocates, and a group wearing large wings on their backs in an effort to obscure the hate signs of the Westboro Baptist Church. The event received large attention and coverage from media outlets in the bay area. It was estimated that 900 people gathered that day (600 counter-protesters and 300 members of the audience). The Westboro Baptist Church did not show.
