The Guitolão is a twelve-stringed musical instrument
created by Gilberto Grácio
. It was first presented to the public on the 18th of June 2005. Only two models were built.
According to António Eustáquio, the owner of one of the guitars, it is not suitable for fado
. It has a wider timbric range than a typical Portuguese guitar
.
The soundboard (top) is made of spruce, the body sides and back are Pau Santo (similar to rosewood), the fretboard is made of ebony and the neck of mahogany.
