Grover Cleveland was originally constructed in 1913 as the home to Buffalo State College

, then known as Buffalo Teacher's School. In 1931, Grover Cleveland High School was formed as a school serving the Lower West Side of Buffalo. As schools became integrated, the school became notorious for a large upswing in gang-related activity and violence. Enrollment began to drop until the Grover Cleveland High School's closure in July 2011. The building still stands and houses multiple programs for the Buffalo Public Schools.
