In 2006, as a redshirt freshman, Isdaner started at left guard on the offensive line blocking for running back Steve Slaton

. His 21 knockdowns and WVU's rushing success earned Isdaner freshman All-American and all-Big East honors.
As a redshirt sophomore in 2007, Isdaner earned all-Big East honors as well as several All-American honors. He totaled 56 knockdowns as West Virginia produced two 1,000 yard rushers and ranked in the Top 5 nationally in rushing offense. Isdaner was also named to ESPN's
All-Bowl Team and All-Film Team.
In 2008, as a redshirt junior, Isdaner missed the all-Big East team selection for the first time in his career, although West Virginia finished in the Top 15 in rushing nationally. However, Isdaner earned Big East Academic honors his final season at West Virginia.
