The medieval parish church is dedicated to St Mary; there is also a thriving congregation in St Mary's in Singleton who meet in the village hall every Sunday.

The village has two pubs, The Swan and the Hoodener's Horse and a thriving cricket club. The club has 2 Sunday XI's playing in the Kent Village Leagues , a Saturday "friendly" XI and a number of "colts" teams.
