. The platform is located on an open cut and has glass block and concrete windscreens attached to the canopy supports; the only exit is at the east end of the station. The Grasmere crossover, consisting of two manual switches, is located just past the Fingerboard Road overpass north of the station. North of this station, the line merges with the abandoned South Beach
branch. The South Beach and the North Shore branch lines were abandoned in 1953 due to poor ridership and better bus service in Staten Island. The South Beach Branch line was a two-track line serving six stations along Staten Island’s eastern shore
