History

Gopalganj sadar is the main town of Gopalgonj District. It has a great administrative power,15 MPs are from there. It has 15 banks,3 commercial banks in it .It has a great tranportation system, it will take 5 hours from Rajdhani (depending on traffic) After liberation war Gopalgonj sadar become 'Pourashava'. As a close fellow of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Panna Biswas of Gimadanga was selected as first Chairman. Khan Saheb Sheikh Mosharrof Hossain, Molla Jalal, Hemaet Uddin, Sheikh Kabir Hossain Mohammad Ali Khan Abu Mia, Abdullah Mia, Raju Sikdar,are well known leader.
