Plot

Glass Rose takes place in the 1920s. The player assumes the role of Takashi Kagetani — a rookie reporter. After waking up on the floor of a strange house seventy years in the past, Takashi must embark on a new case and in answering these questions he can return to his own time. Takashi realises that the time warp has left him with special powers - the ability to read a person’s mind, with which he has a brief glimpse into the mind of the person he is talking with. These powers will be invaluable to Takashi if he is to decipher what is fact and what is fiction.

Takashi Kagetani - main character of the game

Emi Katigiri - Takashi's friend, also Koutarou's granddaughter

Kotarou Katigiri - Emi's grandfather who owns the notebook. He quit being a Detective but was called to the Mansion by his boss, Ryouji Ihara, when they knew "Kazuya Nanase" was there which they were planning to kill because he was the suspect that Kotarou let free for a simple "I'm innocent" act Is why he quit since Kazuya killed Ryouji's wife which was of course, his fault.

Yoshinodou Family

Denemon Yoshinodou

The head of the family and the first person to have been murdered in the case "New World Cinema murders" in 1920. He was actually murdered by his own beloved son who he longed for a long time, Kazuya, Both of them have the "Butterfly marks" Kazuya on his left hand and his on his face (It was injured in the earthquake, when it healed it showed a Butterfly shaped scar) It is revealed later on the game in his diary that his real name is Takeya Kagetari, one of the inhabitants of the Black Butterfly village where Matsunosuke the gardener also used to live.

Hisako Yoshinodou

The first wife of Denemon, she gave birth to 3 children. The twins Takako and Kazuya and son Hideo. She was the first actress to act as the main character in "Dolls" too.

She has a statue in the Eastern garden.

Yurie Yoshinodou

The second wife of Denemon, she gave birth to 2 children. Kanae and Marie. It was said throughout the game that she was Denemon's most loved wife. Also that she hated Kanae but loved Marie more because they look alike, It was also said that she always told Marie every night her plans to kill her husband when he was away then with the help of Matsunosuke (requested by Marie) to calm her down but after 1 day she committed suicide through drinking poisoned wine since she thought Denemon was going to kill her one day.

She also has a statue in the northern garden.

Ayako Yoshinodou

The third wife of Denemon. Takako said that Ayako isn't trust worthy and that she was the reason for Denemon's death because he changed so much after Ayako married him, but it was revealed that she married him for money to pay the debts in her family. In the end of the game Koutarou and her relationship is clearly revealed, they were secret lovers. She also wanted to be saved, To get out of the mansion but she died in the end.

Hideo Yoshinodou

The eldest son and current leader of the Yoshinodou family. He is the husband of Youko Yoshinodou and has a son named Hideya. He was the second person to be killed, his body was found in the well first by Matsunosuke but Matsunosuke didn't help him since he killed Tsuyako Sawamatsu.

Takako Yoshinodou

The second eldest girl in the family also Kazuya's twin (although she never knew) she was to perform the main character in the remake of "Dolls" directed by her Fiancee, Kiyohiko Yoshikawa. Deeper in the game she is murdered in the bathroom, and her body brought down to the wine cellar where Takashi found it. Although Kiyohiko wanted to marry her just for success he regretted losing her since he fell deeply in love with her.
