Glaisdale railway station serves the village of Glaisdale

who provide most of the station's passenger services. The NYMR use this station on gala days, when they run trains along the line as far as Battersby

The station dates from 1865, when the Castleton to Grosmont
line was opened. A passing loop is located here - one of only two remaining on the entire Esk Valley line. The signal box
that once operated it can still be seen on the Whitby-bound platform, but the loop points now work automatically and the token machines for the single line block sections either side are operated by the train crew, under the remote supervision of the Nunthorpe
signaller. Trains only normally cross here on summer Sundays, as the weekday timetable sees only one DMU on the branch at any one time.
