Girne American University is located in Kyrenia, a city in the northern area of Cyprus. The university was founded in 1985 as an independent, non-profit institution of American-style higher education. Today, GAU is an international university with campuses in Cyprus, Singapore, UK and US.

On-line GAU Cybrary provides access to more than 13,000 journals and over 2 million books. Cybrary is also included in the Global Softlink library which provides access to major university libraries in the UK and US.GAU’s reference library is housed conveniently within the Campus. It is organised as a traditional/lending and research library with open stacks allowing free access to the collection. There is a book collection of some 25,000 volumes. The library also subscribes to some 50 journals and periodicals. Inter library loans are available between the libraries of other universities on the island. There is a small but growing collection of CD-ROMs which include “Books imprint” and journal catalogues. There is a wide range of reference books and encyclopaedias.
