Qualified as a Chartered Accountant May 1952 with Barron & Barron; Appointed London Manager 1953 and became a partner from 1955. Left partnership in order to found Management Consultaant and Export Company in 1961.
In May 1955 uncccessfully contest Banstead Urban District Council. May 1959 elected to York County Council.
Adopted for the Don Yalley for the 1959 General Election, and for the Hartlepools constituency for the 1964 General Election.
Dodsworth was Member of Parliament
for South West Hertfordshire from February 1974
to 1979, when he resigned on medical advice. Richard Page
was elected to succeed him in the subsequent by-election
