Gene Mullin

Gene Mullin is a former Democratic California
State Assembly member
and former South San Francisco Council member. He represented the 19th Assembly District, which includes San Mateo, Burlingame, Brisbane, Daly City, Foster City, Millbrae, San Bruno, South San Francisco, Half Moon Bay, Pacifica, and Belmont.
For the 2007-08 Legislative Session, Assemblymember Mullin is the Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Education and sits on the Committee on Housing and Community Development, the Committee on Water, Parks and Wildlife, the Committee on Public Employees, Retirement and Social Security, as well as the Budget Committee. Assemblymember Mullin is one of only four members selected to serve on multiple Budget subcommittees: Budget Subcommittee #2 on Education Finance, and Budget Subcommittee #4 on State Administration. He was the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Housing and Community Development in 2005 and 2006.
Gene Mullin was also the President of the South San Francisco Classroom Teachers Association from 1992–1995 and Chairman, Negotiations Committee, SSFCTA, 1986-1990.

A lifelong resident of the Bay Area, Gene and his wife, Terri, have lived in South San Francisco since 1967. Together they have two children, Jennifer and Kevin, and three grandsons, Austin, Jonathan and Colton.Education

Public Education career
Gene’s long history in the 19th Assembly District began in 1967 at South San Francisco High School, where he would teach government and coach basketball for the next 32 years. He is most often described by his former students as “my favorite teacher.” Gene further distinguished himself in public education as a Lecturer/Consultant at the Institute for Local Self Government in Sacramento from 1989 to 1997 and continues to serve as a Lecturer/Consultant at the Center for Youth Citizenship in Sacramento.Gene Mullin was also the President of the South San Francisco Classroom Teachers Association from 1992–1995 and Chairman, Negotiations Committee, SSFCTA, 1986-1990.
